    Verse 1
If I'm more eloquent than Jews
And I speak more tongues than angels
Without love, I am like the brass
Sounding so harsh unto the ears.

    Verse 2
If I can, by my wisdom, preach
And tell all that is done in heav'n
If my faith can remove mountains
Yet without love, I am all vain.

    Verse 3
If I give all the things I have
    As charity unto the poor
If I give myself to be burnt
    To receive a martyr's glory.

    Verse 4
If I do not love God and man
All of my hope is nothing worth
    Whatever talents we may have
None can compare with divine love.
